About Jason

Jason Hoss leads the conversation on how organizations adapt, respond, and spring forward from adversity. By treating AI as Augmented Intelligence, he empowers leaders to lead while technology accelerates.

Jason is the Founder of Whirlybird Labs, Ltd., an AI education, training, and governance consultancy. He is a Global Speaker and MIT Guest Lecturer on AI and Business Resilience topics, and a Member of the BCI AI Resilience Special Interest Group. Recovering professional photographer who embraces adversity as a catalyst for growth. Loves dogs; likes hiking.

A seasoned technology and business continuity professional with over 15 years of experience in designing and implementing comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. He has a proven track record of managing complex IT environments, leading incident response efforts, and ensuring organizational resilience across industries including FinTech, healthcare, and credit unions.

As a recognized speaker and educator, Jason regularly presents at industry conferences such as the Disaster Recovery Journal (DRJ), MIT, the Business Continuity Institute (BCI), the Association of Continuity Professionals (ACP) CRMC, and Continuity Insights. His presentations focus on the practical application of AI in business resilience, crisis management, and tabletop exercises.

Core Frameworks

Methodologies developed at the intersection of business resilience and artificial intelligence.

Core Framework

The Domain Translator

As AI capabilities commoditize, the scarcest resource isn't intelligence — it's direction. The Domain Translator sits at the intersection of two skill sets that rarely co-exist: enough technical fluency to know what AI can actually do, and enough deep industry expertise to know what's worth doing.

Deep Domain Expertise AI Fluency Problem Selection
Specification Model

PICS Framework

Prompt, Intent, Context, Success Engineering — a four-layer model for specifying AI agent behavior and measurable outcomes. Success Engineering closes the loop with health metrics and verification.

Prompt Intent Context Success Engineering
Governance Methodology

Intent Engineering

The structured design of AI systems around explicit goals, constraints, and accountability. Seven components: Objective, Desired Outcome, Health Metrics, Strategic Context, Constraints, Autonomy Level, and Stop Rules. Each stage subsumes the previous — intent engineering includes context and prompts, but starts with purpose.

The Philosophy
“Those who embrace AI as a capability multiplier will surpass those who see it only as a threat.”
— Core Thesis

Moving Beyond the Buzzwords

Delivering high-impact sessions on harnessing disruptive technology responsibly.

Strategy & Opportunity

Augmented Intelligence: The Partnership

Automation is just the beginning. The future belongs to those who partner with technology to lead predictive analytics and complex scenario modeling in a world of constant flux.

Risk & Ethics

Enablement & Deception

Navigating the dual nature of AI—from radical content accessibility to the ominous risks of misinformation and trust erosion in enterprise environments.

Tailored Intensives

Bridging Practitioner to Executive

Bridging the gap from Practitioner to Executive through tactical execution and strategic alignment.

Evidence & Insights

Distilling the “Word Salad”

Master root cause analysis and evidence review. Transform chaotic data into consumable executive insights via precision prompt engineering.

Exercise Augmentation

Augmented Crisis Readiness

Experience the “CU Ransomware Crisis” model. Leverage Generative AI to design tabletop simulations that adapt to real-time decision-making.

Strategic Enablement

The Capability Multiplier

The practitioner's journey from Analog to Digital. Empower stakeholders to create multimedia assets that augment human performance.

Operational Insights

From the practitioner's journey.

01.

The Capability Multiplier

AI is not a replacement for domain expertise; it is a force multiplier for individual amplitude. Those who embrace augmented partnership will surpass those who treat AI solely as a threat.

Core Thesis | Resilient Future
02.

Distilling the Word Salad

The true power of Generative AI lies in distillation. It transforms chaotic thousands of transcription data points into healthy, consumable root cause analyses and gap reviews in seconds.

Methodology | Evidence Review
03.

Sandbox Sovereignty

Security and intelligence are not mutually exclusive. Practitioner-level resilience requires self-hosted LLMs and sandboxed environments to test nefarious intent without data leakage.

Protocol | Hyper-V Sandboxing
04.

The Power Cord vs. The Pen

Legacy processes are “analog pens” in a digital era. Scaling resilience requires moving to the “power cord”—transitioning from manual tracking to automated standards mapping and output modeling.

Workflow | Analog-to-Digital
05.

Augmented Crisis Narrative

Tabletop exercises no longer need to be static. AI allows for prompt-driven “Code Your Own Adventure” simulations that adapt dynamically to real-time executive decision-making.

Execution | Simulation Augmentation
06.

Multimodal Amplitude

Beyond text: The future is multimodal. Harnessing AI for stills, videos, and narration turns technical evidence into compelling visual stories that drive executive alignment and cultural buy-in.
